    Giles County Summer School:  Invitation/Recommendation

    We will be offering Summer School for High School underclassmen this summer at Giles County High in an attempt to keep students on track with their graduating class.  Students who have fallen behind due to the Pandemic will be provided the opportunity to catch up with their peers and remain on schedule to graduate.  This service will be offered free for this year!! It is extremely important that you take advantage of this opportunity. Transportation will be the responsibility of the student. 

    The Summer classes will begin on Tuesday, May 30th.  The morning session will run from 8 AM until 11 AM with lunch time being 11:05 AM until 11:55 AM, and then an afternoon session from 12 PM until 3 PM. The summer session will be 4 days a week of in-person instruction for 4 weeks.

    Dates:  

    • May 30-June 2 (Tuesday-Friday)
    • June 6-June 9 (Tuesday-Friday)
    • June 13-June 16 (Tuesday-Friday)
    • June 20-June 23 (Tuesday-Friday)

    Courses that can be taken through credit recovery can be done at the student’s pace with an achievement mark being set by the instructor.  (Example) A student may be asked to get at least 8 to 10% of a credit recovery class done per day to receive a full day's credit.

    Attendance is a must for Summer School and will be a requirement to obtain credit.  There will be 16 scheduled class days starting on May 30th  and ending on June 23rd.  In order to receive summer school credit, you must attend 14 of the 16 days minimum.  ONLY 2 ABSENCES WILL BE EXCUSED TO RECEIVE CREDIT.  

    To be eligible for Summer School this year the school must be notified no later than May 19th.  Written commitment and return of this form is required.
